How food supplements are defined (CZ)
In the Czech Republic, a food supplement is considered a food. A Czech legal definition is provided in the Ministry of Agriculture information page:
DoplД№В€ky stravy (MZe).
As stated by the Ministry of Agriculture, the food business operator placing food supplements on the market is responsible for meeting applicable food law requirements.
Key Czech / EU requirements (high level)
Labelling requirements
Czech rules include mandatory warnings and naming conventions, such as using the wording “doplnГ„єk stravy” and required warnings like “not a substitute for a varied diet”, “keep out of reach of children”, and “do not exceed the recommended daily dose”.
The detailed national framework is described by the Czech Ministry of Agriculture and in national legislation (see source link below).
Composition & restricted substances
Czech legislation includes lists and conditions for certain plants and substances that may be used or may be restricted/prohibited. This is not exhaustive — other rules can apply depending on ingredients and claims.
Food law compliance
Food supplements must follow EU and national food law rules. Compliance responsibility remains with the food business operator placing the product on the market.
